Yes, America’s got talent. And Gary Russo, a construction worker in New York City, doesn’t need a fancy stage or TV cameras to prove it. Russo, equipped with a microphone, spends his lunch hours singing for audiences passing by.
At a recent jobsite, a handwritten sign hung nearby invited people to listen and “forget all the noise, traffic and the impact of the 2nd Avenue subway,” where he was working. Russo says he sings for the joy of it and because “I just want to give back a little bit” to the community where he earns a living.
