Caterpillar Offering New Pipe and Pole Forks
in Better Machines |
on April 14, 2011
New pipe and pole forks from Caterpillar feature a wide carriage, fixed tines and a full-width, double-acting clamp to keep pipes or poles secure during transport, loading and unloading. The wheel loader operator can position the clamp hydraulically to hold large or small diameter pipes or poles against the fork tines, or the operator can move the clamp up and out of the way for handling other materials with the tines alone.
The clamp can be positioned to handle pipes or poles as big as 30 or 36 inches in diameter or to handle pipes or poles as small as 2 inches in diameter. The design enables a loader to handle single pieces or multiple pieces of the same diameter. The design also enables the loader to handle securely bundled pipes and poles.
Cat® pipe and pole forks feature robust construction, but the clamping force is engineered to secure the load without damaging it. Rubber pads on the clamps help protect the load.
The new forks are available for standard Cat wheel loaders ranging in size from the 930 to the 972. The new work tools are available in pin-on configuration or with a Fusion™ coupler interface. Also, a standard, Integrated toolcarrier style interface is available for the 930.
Cat pipe and pole forks are designed and built for use in oil and gas field drilling, pipeline construction and utilities work. For more information, contact your Cat dealer or visit www.cat.com.
